Volvo S40 in Carmel California by Partywave Volvo S40 in Carmel California by Partywave
2004 Volvo S40 LSE overlooking the scenic beach of Carmel, CA. Proud to sport the front license plate with the decree "Let's Roll" made famous by the passengers of 9/11 Flight 93.

WOW, sidemarkers looks cool - we have this only on us cars, I think on a few S80 here had them too.
Ooh and the front lights looks different, seems that this was a facelift version. Ours looks cheap.

Thanks BigMike. Yeah, the US model S40 received a facelift with these headlights on the 2003-2004 models. It also included the black lower lip on the front spoiler and 'piano black' interior trim in leiu of the wood trim. There's a lot I miss about that car ... fun to drive turbo-4, great gas mileage, surprising amount of back seat legroom, versatility of the factory roof rack and the fold down back seat (unlike the BMW 3-series). Funny how people tend to like little variations on import cars. Americans like to swap out headlights, taillights and side marker lights for the European version to give cars that custom look (especially on BMWs, but also various models of Volvo, Mercedes, Porsche, etc).

You have a nice looking V40! Sounds like you have some cool plans for it too.

I used to enjoy cheering on the Volvo wagons back in the 80's and 90's when they competed in various series such as BTCC. It's so cool to see those 200, 700 and 800 series blue & white turbo wagons beating the likes of BMW or Chevy Camaro, etc.

Yes, well it was mine. I had lots of good times with that S40. It was a great car (as I'm sure your V40 must be). It was fun to drive, got great gas mileage and had a surprisingly spacious cabin for such a small car. However, shortly after I took that pic I traded it in on a 300 hp Mustang GT :strong: The turbo 4-banger was peppy and fun but the dual exhaust, roaring V8 really makes me grin ear to ear (and the fuel economy is better than I expected with today's modern transmissions and engines with variable valve timing). Here's a pic of my Mustang: [link] So do you have a pic of your V40?
