I had a chance to see some of the most coveted motorcycles in the world at Motoconcorso in Monterey, CA last weekend on Saturday 12 Jul 08. The show/auction included some bike nearly 100 years old and bikes from many different makers/countries including Harley Davidson, Motobi, Ducati, Agusta MV, Moto Guzzi, Mondial, Triumph, NSU, Honda, Norton, and who the heck knew that Ferrari and Maserati made motorcycles?

Even though Maserati made motorcycles for a short period (1953-61) prior to its success as a car brand, the Ferrari motorbikes had nothing to do with the cars - it was just a name coincidence, and had nothinng to do with the famous cars' brand, and it's been short-lived as well (1951-59). Nevertheless, they make a rare collector's item now :)

If I hadn't read about it I'd probably think the same as well. What is even more confusing is that both companies were located in one city :)
