David Pearson is rumored to have kept the stock cigarette lighter in the dash with a cigar taped beside it so he could smoke a stogie while haulin' ass around the Daytona Super Speedway at 200 mph. This was originally his Torino Talladega 429.
This is the baddest motor Ford ever made for for a factory stock passenger car. This is the Boss 429 (7 liter) - the same engine was put in a handful of Mustangs, Cougar Eliminators, Torino Talladegas and also used by NASCAR called Grand National racing back in the 1969-70 seasons. Ford built this motor to compete with the 426 cubic inch Hemi motor that powered the Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird. The Boss 429 was conservatively rated at 375 hp so people could get car insurance but were rated at actually over 500 hp. I've heard the Boss 429 is more powerful than the Ford 428 Cobra Jet and the 427 Cammer.
The only thing cooler would have been if there was a 426 Hemi Daytona/Superbird NASCAR racer for a side by side comparison or better yet if they'd go at it for a few laps
