Honda displayed this bike at the International Motorycle Show held in San Mateo, CA 15-17 Dec 06. This is like the bike # 69 Nicky Hayden used to win so many races including Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA and the 2006 Championship. Used MS Paint to edit out a spectator from the background.

Actually this is not the bike Nicky Hayden used at all! Notice the headlights, mirrors, indicators and pillion seat amongst other things. These things are not on a MotoGP race bike that's for sure! It is a Honda CBR1000RR aka. Fireblade with a Repsol paintjob.

Thanks for pointing out the differences...this one is street legal and Nicky Hayden's was an all-out racer. Nonetheless, this bike seemed to garner incredible attention at that bike show.

That should be in a different category..... automotive sculpture !

The things that strike me most unless it's a trick of the eye is the length of the bike, particularly the length of the wheel base, they have extended the back as far as they can and for a purpose.

I'm not a big bike fan myself, but I can appreciate fine engineering in anything...

Oh and nice picture... not easy to get in those sort of circumstances with all of the lighting around.

Thanks for the feedback Steve. I was amazed by the level of workmanship and use of high-tech materials (alloys, carbon fiber) with so many superbikes at that show. But, capable of insane top speeds (> 200mph), they still haven't figured out a way to install bumpers and airbags.
